Hi, I’m Tarah.

I’ve spent my career working with mission-driven organizations.

I've led teams, managed multimillion-dollar programs, and built campaigns that reached millions of people.

I've written for executives, launched brands from scratch, and figured out how to make complex things clear under tight timelines and pressure-filled moments.

Most recently, I served as Acting Communications Director at the U.S. Department of Justice's Bureau of Justice Assistance, where I led a 13-person team and ran digital strategy for national campaigns.

Before that, I built the digital presence for Supernal, Hyundai's advanced air mobility startup. And before that, I spent nearly seven years at Community Change, leading digital strategy and managing a $2.3M program across advocacy and political campaigns.

Now I work independently—partnering with mission-driven organizations and creative agencies on communications strategy, campaigns, and content.

How I Work

I’m a strategic partner who loves building things. I lead, create, partner, collaborate, and execute.

I ramp up quickly, ask tough questions, and care deeply about the work leading to results.

Give me your problem, your project, your pie-in-the-sky idea and I’ll work with you to develop a plan and execute.

A Bit More Personal

I'm a former competitive swimmer turned horseback rider. These days I still swim laps at my local YMCA, but most evenings you'll find me at a quiet Maryland farm with my retired racehorse, Gator.

I live in Silver Spring, Maryland with my husband and our Great Dane who believes he's the reincarnated wizard Merlin.

I start my mornings with too much coffee and end my days with a book. I'm also the voice behind Absurd Girl, a creative project where poetry and short fiction play with algorithms.

I believe in the magic of everyday moments and that love ultimately wins the day.
